Colin Trevorrow’s film from a screenplay by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Colin Trevorrow & Derek Connolly takes the JURASSIC PARK story twenty years forward from where it last ended and a new park which is quite successful until calamity and a fearsome plot rear their ugly heads. One could say there are plot holes galore and certain far fetched scene set ups that stretch the imagination, but I totally enjoyed this film. Though Bryce Dallas Howard’s (Claire) character looks like she fell out of the pages of Vogue magazine, with her pristine white suit and heels (perfect for escaping ravenous Raptors) she personifies old style Hollywood while being a very good actress to boot. Chris Pratt is perfect in the lead role as Owen, the chief trainer and care taker of the Raptors and provides much comic relief in some of the film’s more frightening moments. The photography is magnificent and the CGI effects extraordinarily crisp and clear in their execution, unlike the first film where many of the long shots appeared a bit out of focus perhaps as a way of disguising the fact that much of the technology was so new. I loved this film and recommend it to anyone who wants to have a good old fashioned time at the movies.
