This film directed by France Lawrence based on the second half of the third novel in THE HUNGER GAMES trilogy by Suzanne Collins, comes to a very satisfying conclusion that should result in record breaking box office for it’s studio LIONSGATE. Though I wouldn’t call it a great film, I still enjoyed it’s execution with a fine cast headed by Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Donald Sutherland and Philip Seymour Hoffman who died before completing all of his scenes. Though I understand that 90% of his scenes had been filmed, other actors were used to substitute his remaining scenes and you won’t notice the difference here. This is an apocalyptic, science fiction film that concludes the story quite well and satisfies the emotions much more than the myriad of special effects that take place on screen. I will also say that the story is always key, and luckily the filmmakers realized this with a fine screenplay by Peter Craig and Danny Strong, based on an adaptation of her own book by Suzanne Collins.
