McFARLANE USA (2015)

This extraordinary film told the true story of Coach Jim White who turned the fortunes of a small, poor agricultural town in central Calif. by establishing a cross country team at the high school where he taught. What’s notable about this film is that Coach White’s actions affected his life as much as those of the young men that he taught, since he had been exiled to this school for a series of unfortunate circumstances. A beautiful film that restores hope and pride in even the most desperate of situations by the unmitigated love and caring of an extraordinary teacher. Kevin Costner, Maria Bello, Carlos Chalabi, Morgan Saylor and a cast of wonderful actors round out this incredible story with a script by Christopher Cleveland & Bettina Gilois and Grant Thompson with brilliant direction by Niki Caro.
