THE FIFTH WAVE (2016)

This film directed by J Blakeson based on the first book of a trilogy of the same name with a screenplay by Susannah Grant, Akiva Goldsman, and Jeff Pinkner is simply put, a major disappointment for all involved with a story and plot that you can pretty well determine early on. In other words this story has been done before and with a whole lot more imagination and panache than what transpires here. Obviously no expense was spared in producing this film and the actors led by Chloe Grace Moretz, Nick Robinson, Alex Roe and Liev Schreiber acquit themselves as best they can despite a lackadaisical story and plotline concerning an alien invasion and takeover of the world.
